The tGA world has had many different races over the ages. Each of them represents some aspects of their creator either in appearance or in personality. The only playable races at the moment are dwarf, elf, human and their offshoots (e.g. half-elves). Other races that are listed here are NPC races.
Races that are known to have lived in various Ages of tGA include:
List of races
- Main article: Andain
The Andain were the offspring of gods and mortals and thus they were half-gods with immense powers who fought in many wars. They were killed off in the Explosion at the end of the Second Age of tGA. They did not die of natural causes and only died when they were fatally wounded.
- Main article: Demon
Demons are monstrous, often malevolent beings with sharp fangs, wings, horns, claws and tails. They are powerful warriors and mages, although their abilities vary depending on how old they are. The oldest known demon is several thousand years old. They currently live in the Demon Realm and Yamato. Demons are the children of Mardük.
Dragons are big reptiles who are fierce warriors and mages who know several high-level spells. One dragon can single-handedly destroy a large army, so other races often leave the dragons in peace. The oldest known dragon was 5000 years old. They currently live in the Roost in Aison. Dragons are rumoured to be the children of Shakkan.
Dwarves are excellent smiths and inventors who like to drink and fight a lot. They can live up to 300 years. They are short and stocky and like to live underground, although a few of them sometimes venture to the outside world for whatever reason. They live all around the world in different caves and forts. They also have a subfaction called the Chaos Dwarves. The dwarves are children of Hephaestus.
- Main article: Dweller
Dwellers are strange, luminous beings which take over a living or dead host body. Not much is known about them as they have only recently appeared in the world through the Gate of Light. Those who have met them have not lived long to tell the tale about their emergence.
Elves are gracious creatures and descendants of the Faerfolc. They can live up to 500 years. They are usually rather calm and beautiful and like to live in forests all around the world, although more elves are nowadays living with humans, even marrying them. They also have a subfactions called the Dark Elves. The father of the elves is Cardia although they are related to the Faerfolc and Gaea.
- Main article: Faerfolc
The Faerfolc are the forefathers of elves and were originally created to act as guardians of the tGA world. However, they were imprisoned during the War of the Andain and turned rather sinister until they were released years later. Their lifespan is unknown, but it is said that they can be more powerful than Andain. Most of them are currently hiding within the forests of Libaterra. The Faerfolc are the children of Gaea.
- Main article: Pantheon
The gods are immensely powerful and mercurial beings who usually hang out in the High Plane. They have fathered the Andain and they have also affected the lives of many mortals and even caused entire events that have taken place through various Ages of tGA. Although gods can live forever, they can be killed even by mortals if they appear in their corporeal form. Usually they only possess a host, because the death of the host will not kill a god.
Humans are, well, humans. They live up to 80 to 100 years. They are quite inventive although they often resort to violence. In essence they are the wild card that often affects the fate of the world because they share traits of the other races. They live all around the world. Humans are the children of Nergal.
The Kitsune are strange, intelligent foxes that can shapeshift into human form. They are masters of illusion. Whether they are a subclass of demons or entirely different beings is not known because the Kitsune rarely venture outside their magical forest in Yamato.
The Lefein look like humans, but appearance can be deceiving. They are much more intelligent, taller and stronger and can live for 5000 years or maybe even more. They are skilled in all kinds of crafts, and their quest for wisdom eventually made them look like a threat, so the gods sealed them away. Few if any Lefein live nowadays, and the only known one is Daventhalas de Mont Hault. The father of the Lefein is Paedün.
Orcs were a brutal race which terrorized the world during the First Age of tGA. Humans eventually got fed up with them, though, and hunted them down until the orcs became extinct. Some rumours say that there could still be areas where small orc populations might live, but this has not been proven. Another rumour says that Nergal is the father of the orcs, but the god has not commented whether such a claim is true or not.
The Sirithai, or the Sleeping Ones, are a race of lizardfolk who have lived in the desert of Southern Libaterra for generations. They have remained hidden and thus they have never bothered to enter world politics. Few if any people even know of their existence. It is said that they have descended from dragons, although such claims are yet to be proven true. The father of the Sirithai is Shakkan.
The Undead are neither living or dead, but something horrific in between. They are produced by the Plague of Undeath, and are essentially walking corpses that hunger for living flesh. Most are mindless creatures that rely on instinct to guide them, but some, such as Arbriel Conrad, have retained the sentience they had while living.
- Main article: Chaos Dwarves
Chaos Dwarves are not a subspecies of dwarves but they are actually dwarves who work closely with the Clergy of Mardük. They often use black magic and know how to build devastating war machines.
- Main article: Dark Elves
Dark Elves are not a subspecies of elves but they are actually elven outcasts. Many but not all of them practice unholy magic and are cruel and manipulative beings. Some of them occasionally turn out to be decent people who have only become outcasts because they have been falsely accused.
Also known as half-elf/half-dwarf. The parents of a dwalf are a dwarf and an elf.
The parents of a half-demon are a demon and one of the three main races (dwarf, elf or human). Half-demons can shapeshift between their mortal and demonic forms although this usually takes a lot of practice and is usually triggered by intense pain or pleasure. They possess some of the abilities of demons and are thus stronger than average beings but weaker than most demons. Because relationships between demons and other races are a taboo, there are very few half-demons in the world.
The parents of a half-dwarf are a dwarf and a human.
The parents of a half-elf are an elf and a human.
Liches differ from other undead in that they can summon themselves back from the dead. They are, in essence, body snatchers. When one body gets too old--and aging can be accelerated by some of the dark magics a lich would use--he just finds another young person, drains their soul, and takes over their body. Although it is possible for a lich to take over the body of someone of the opposite sex, it would be more difficult, and they would be extremely uncomfortable until they found a host of the same sex as they were during life. Even if a lich changes bodies while the old one is still good, the old body dies.
- Main article: Libaterran Tribes
There have been many different tribes of various races in Libaterra but most of them were wiped out in the Reactor Core Explosion. The most famous of these are probably the desert-dwelling Sarquil tribes who still exist in the Sultanate of Karaganda.
Scuns are just one faction of the humanfolk who live in Scundia. They are not a different race, but some still like to put them under a different heading simply because the Scuns are more stupid than the average human is. They are somewhat short but taller than dwarves, and they live as long as humans do. Some claim that the father of the Scuns was Phil, but this has yet to be verified.
