Note: This post explains the events that have led to Chapter 6.
The world has been stirring lately. The once prosperous nations of Yamato, Libaterra, Remon, Aison and Maar Sul had their worries, ranging from civil war and several coups to tension between the races of men, elves and dwarves. During these chaotic times Yamato was overthrown by a new Shogun. The evil mage Distreyd Thandar XII, who was also the high cleric of the Clergy of Mardük, aligned himself with the new Shogun and worked behind the scenes in his plot of world domination.
After the alliance had been formed the combined forces of the Yamato Empire and the Clergy of Mardük attacked other kingdoms and conquered them. The Shogun was originally leading the army, but he became very ill. Distreyd assumed more and more power, leaving the Shogun as a figurehead, and became the true threat of the war. He spread the religion of Mardük, the God of Chaos, to the conquered kingdoms. After Aison's capital Myridia was captured Distreyd made his right-hand man Zarnagon the Steward of Myridia and ordered him to crush the remaining pockets of resistance in Aison.
Many heroes gathered at the Magestar, one of the final fortresses that opposed Yamato in Aison. They consulted mages and some clerics of Nergal who had been betrayed by Distreyd, and they learned that Distreyd had some shards of Krystallopyr, a powerful ancient weapon which had the ability to slay even gods. Distreyd had used the magic contained in the shards of this shattered weapon to expand his powers dramatically and spread a plague of nightmares around the globe, which had helped Yamato to conquer the resisting kingdoms.
The heroes set off to find a magic stone which had the power to nullify the shards' power. They found the stone, but they needed a Lefein, because only members of that race could unlock the stone's power. Lefein, who looked like humans but lived thousands of years, were thought to be extinct. Luckily one hero had met a Lefein named Daven a few years ago in Remon, and the heroes decided to head for Remon to find Daven.
Meanwhile some Remonians, with the help of the revenant bard Leon Alcibiates, found Tes Pellaria where the Faerfolc and spirits of the dead resided. The Fellowship entered the catacombs, set the Faerfolc free, and consulted the spirits who said that one person in the group was destined to become the new king of Remon. That person was Marcus Sarillius, an Aisonian paladin who had originally travelled to Remon to find a magic sword named Dawn which was similar to his own sword Dusk and was said to have great power in it. The Fellowship realized that Marcus as a king in a troubled land might be able to unite the races of men, elves and dwarves under one banner and gather enough people together to drive Yamatians out of Remon.
The Fellowship spent the next weeks trying to prove to the people of Remon that Marcus really was the destined king of Remon while they fought against Yamatians and the villains' allies. After many negotiations and acts of bravery, including such feats as preventing the assassination of the elven king and defeating the evil Beastmaster, the Fellowship formed a Grand Alliance with many Remoners, including dwarves, elves and even Kagetsu II's Maar Sulais forces.
The Aisonian heroes found their way to Remon and located Daven who was travelling with Marcus and the Grand Alliance. They decided to help Marcus. Daven got the stone, but it would take time to unlock its power. Yamatians and the Alliance's forces clashed near the elven woods, and the Alliance won its first great battle. After many more battles the Alliance proceeded to Remonton, Remon's capital, and managed to capture it by using a secret passage to infiltrate the city, open the gates and capture the Yamatian councillors controlling the city.
After Remonton's capture all of Remon except Fragnar came under the Grand Alliance's rule. Marcus and Kagetsu left some soldiers to keep peace in Remon and to capture Fragnar, and the army itself travelled to Maar Sul. The Alliance was victorious, capturing Maar Sul's capital from Yamatians and killing an usurper there, and Kagetsu II became the rightful king of Maar Sul. The Alliance sent its forces to southern Maar Sul to capture the cities there next, and a delegation led by a famous political figure Sen Wisteria was sent to the Khitan lands in northern Maar Sul in order to get the Khitans join the Alliance.
Marcus also found out that the sword Dawn, which he'd been looking for, was in the possession of Varalia, captain of Zarnagon's elite legion in Aison's capital Myridia, and he sent a brave warrior Ax and a few heroes to Aison to capture the sword because its magical power could be useful for the Alliance. Ax's group met allies and fought against various enemies while trying to find a way into Myridia. Marcus himself was betrayed by one of his soldiers who stole Dusk and fled with it, and a chase to get the sword back began. At the same time the villains were having a hard time too. In Aison Zarnagon gradually discovered that some of his most trusted officers were plotting to get rid of him, and Dante Albrigant, the highest-ranking cleric of Mardük in Remon, was betrayed and killed by his own Protege.
Now that two weeks have passed since the battle of the capital of Maar Sul, the island nation of Maar Sul itself is far from being liberated, because Yamatians and some traitorous Maar Sulais are still in control of many cities there. And even if the heroes manage to free Maar Sul against all the odds, there are still many other nations waiting to be liberated. Certain areas in Aison are still fighting against the Yamatian occupation, and the Faerfolc (a race of elf-like beings Marcus and the Fellowship accidentally set free in Remon) are rampaging through Libaterra, killing both Libaterrans and Yamatians alike. Wherever the heroes go, they'll face many dangers.
However, there are more forces at work that have not presented themselves yet. There are traitors on all sides, and even the gods themselves are planning something. A dark force is rising, and new challenges await heroes and villains alike. The future of the world is in their hands...
